Any way you look at it, October is one busy month. Children are choosing Halloween costumes and everything around us shouts “party.” The pumpkins are carved and all that is missing is the perfect food for the kids, both young and old.

Treats for Your Witches, Goblins and Ghosts!

For those little goblins, this quick spooky Octopus and Seaweed dinner is perfect. Or, try these eerily simple “boo”logna snackers, Ritz spiders or some spook cookies.

Whatever you decide monstrously delicious spook-tacular ghostly goodies should reign and be something your little vampires will love sinking their teeth into.

Octopus and Seaweed

1 (3 oz.) pkg. ramen noodles
4 hot dogs
5 drops liquid green food coloring
Prepared mustard

Cook noodles according to directions in microwave safe bowl until noodles are tender. While soup is cooking, cut each hot dog lengthwise into eight strips within two inches of one end. After noodles are cooked, bring to a boil two to three inches water in microwave container. Add hot dogs into boiling water and cook until heated through. Add food coloring to noodles and drain. Place noodles on serving plates and top with hot dog. Add eyes with dab of mustard.

BOOlogna Snackers

2 slices of white bread (optional)
2 slices of bologna
2 slices cheese

Alternate layers of bread, bologna and cheese on cutting board. Cut into decorative shapes using Halloween-shaped cookie cutters or with sharp knife. Decorate with mustard and catsup.

Ritz Spiders

12 Ritz Crackers
¼ cup peanut butter, divided
48 small pretzel sticks
Halloween sprinkles
Raisins or currants

Spread each of 6 crackers with 1 tsp. peanut butter; cover with second cracker to form spider’s bodies. Insert 8 pretzel sticks into the peanut butter layer of each spider to create the legs. Spread 1 tsp. of the remaining peanut butter on top of spider and decorate with sprinkles and currants or raisins for the eyes.

Halloween Spook Cookies

2 squares white baking chocolate
6 Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies or similar shaped cookie
Black decorating gel or mini-chocolate chips

Place chocolate in small microwavable bowl on High (100% power) for 30-1 minute, stirring after 30 seconds, or until melted. Coat cookies with chocolate and place on sheet of wax paper. Decorate by drawing scary eyes and mouths on ghosts with decorating gel.
